Casey Blake signs 1-year deal

Casey Blake signed a 1-year deal yesterday with the tribe.

"At what cost? When he filed for arbitration, Blake submitted a salary of $6.9 million, $1.5 million more than the figure that the team offered. Negotiations culminated in a salary reportedly at $6.2 million. Last year, Blake made $3.75 million."

Blake was a big contributer to the Tribe's success last year. Good job by Shapiro to sign him cheap.

Khalil Green close to 2-year deal

Khalil Greene and the Padres are close on a two-year, $11 million contract.

"The soft-spoken Greene was named the team's 2007 MVP after hitting .254 and setting career highs with 27 homers, 44 doubles and 97 RBIs."

good move by the Pads, take him up to free agency when he will probably go to the east coast, closer to home.
